Why have a Comprehensive Plan?

Morgan County is updating its comprehensive plan to guide its growth, development, and priorities for years to come. A comprehensive plan is an advisory document that allows us to be proactive and plan for the community we want. It is recommended that comprehensive plans be updated every 10 years to re-align with demographic changes, growth projections, and county policies.

Morgan County’s comprehensive plan will:

  1. Be a long-term strategic guide that outlines the vision, goals, and policies for the county's future development and growth.
  2. Help make informed decisions about managing resources, guiding development, and ensuring sustainable growth.
  3. Engage the community to ensure that community values, desires, and concerns are reflected.
