Information and Updates

Updates - 7/22/2020

Here are a few answers to some questions we are getting from a lot of folks! Please remember that in this ever challenging environment, things may change at a moment's notice. Thank you for your patience and understanding!!
1. Is the 4-H Dance going to happen?
Unfortunately, no. All 4-H events are directed and determined by CSU Extension and they have their own set of rules that we must abide by. The dance was not allowable per their restrictions.
2. Will the 4-H/LAC be offering a concession stand?
Unfortunately, no, for the same reasons as stated above. There will be different food trucks on the fairgrounds throughout the fair. You are also welcome to pack a cooler with food for your family. Roast Beef sandwich meals on Tuesday will also be available for purchase on Tuesday during beef show or until supplies run out.
3. Do my children need to wear masks during their livestock competitions?
With our livestock shows being held in open air/outdoor venues, we are not requiring masks to be worn in alignment with state mandates of them taking place outdoor. If they want to wear a mask, they absolutely can! Same goes with spectators. There will be signage posted asking masks to be worn when indoors and to properly social distance, but it will be at your discretion ultimately.
4. Are the livestock events closed to the public?
While we are encouraging that the general public watches the livestock shows, master showmanship contest and Jr. Market Sale via live stream that will be linked both to our Facebook page and through a special YouTube channel, we have not locked down the shows. The sale area (in the General Events building) will only be open to buyers and parents will only be allowed in while their child is in the sale ring.
5. Should our kids bring thank you gifts to the buyers the night of the sale or climb the stands to shake their hands?
While we highly encourage kids to thank their buyers, we are asking this year that no thank you's and handshakes are done during the sale. You are welcome and encouraged to send a nice handwritten note and/or small token of appreciation later to your buyer, but in the respect of social distancing and not touching, we ask that you do not approach your buyer in the stands after your animal is sold. We will let the buyers know beforehand that we have asked kids not to do this so don't fear they will think you are being rude!
6. Is the concert still on?
YES!! Make plans to attend the Morgan County Fair concert on Wednesday, August 5th at 8 PM. The live band is Southern Fryed and you will not be disappointed!! There will be a beer garden area also available and limited food choices. Pack a few snacks! The concert will be in the main grandstands and we ask that you spread out over the two large grandstands as much as you can to enjoy the show! You can also bring chairs to sit down below in the dirt arena...just space out there as well!
7. Where can I watch the live stream of the contests?
Stormy Productions will be linking the live streams of all livestock contests, the master showmanship contest and the Jr. Market Sale to our Facebook page and a special YouTube channel Stay tuned for those links to be made available. (YouTube links will be made available on this web page.)
8. Are other measures being taken for safety?
Yes, additional hand wash and hand sanitation stations will be available throughout the fair grounds and we encourage you to use them. The bathrooms will be open and cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis. Picnic tables will be spread out through the fairgrounds so you have a place to sit down with your family unit. If you are feeling ill, have a temperature, or are immuno-compromised, please stay home!! We are not liable for your well-being if you choose to be at the fair!
Look for more updates coming soon!!

Update on Goat and Lamb Shows

Update to Lamb and Goat Show: The goat show on Saturday, August 1 and the lamb show on Sunday, August 2 will take place in the indoor arena (where beef are shown). Additional seating will be placed in there to allow spectators to spread out. Exhibitors: All fitting needs to be done and stands need to remain in lamb/goat barn. Do NOT take your stands to the indoor arena. When your class is called, enter the arena through the beef barn using the west door, exit through the east door back through the beef barn. Pay attention to superintendents and fair board personnel who will help line you up and keep properly spaced. No additional people will be allowed in the holding areas. No portable chairs permitted in the arena-please sit in the stands and try not to congregate.
